Abstract
Modern technologies open up new communication opportunities not only in private life, but also in the public sector. As the government
closest to the population, local government must seek acceptable and effective means of external communication, both with
individual members of society and with various organisations that contribute to solving relevant local issues in municipalities. For
a long time, local printed newspapers have been used by municipalities as a reliable channel for distributing important information.
Today, news is easily accessible electronically, so local newspapers are being replaced by newsletters subscribed to on municipal
websites. The article analyses the data in the newsletter distributed by the Klaipėda city municipality administration as a means of
disseminating information and communicating with interested organisations for 2023 and 2024. The aim is to assess what participation
opportunities are offered to organisations by the Klaipėda city municipality administration. After conducting an empirical
qualitative study based on the results obtained, using the content analysis method, it was assessed how often organisations operating
in the area of Klaipėda city municipality in 2023 and 2024 were invited to engage in various activities related to public affairs, and
in what areas, and in what ways the participation of organisations was expected in managing local affairs.
